We’re down to the final 5 days before Lauren and I are driving home for break. I have 2 HR midterms, a spanish presentation, and to turn in my study abroad application/scholarship applications…all before Wednesday! Thursday will be a breeze, and we’re leaving early Friday morning.
Yesterday, Lauren and I caught the bus to Wilde Roast Cafe for a delicious breakfast and then went to get coffee and study at Taraccino around the corner. After a few hours we walked back to Lauren’s but we HAD to stop at Pacifier because they have the cutest baby clothes ever (I have one little cousin, Lauren has LOTS!) and I begged to stop at Bella Lana, who got a new website which is awesome. I got a 2 skeins of Noro and 4 skeins of Mirasol Peru. No idea what I’ll make, but it was all on sale and I got a great deal.
Last night during the Oscars I whipped up a really giant, really red, really squooshy seed stitch moebius cowl. Unfortunately, when I started I forgot to twist then join so it’d actually be a moebius so I went fifteen rows with an untwisted cowl. So, I frogged it and started again. It’s definitely twisted now. I’d love to show you BUT I’ll have to upload a picture another time because I am at the library, studying for my 4:35 HRD midterm.
Hi! Here’s an update on our WIPs.
Lauren finished a few of the coffee sleeves. They’re beautiful and I’ve got so many compliments on the one she knit for me already!
I finished my first mitten and it turned out very boring. It was good practice though, and the thumb wasn’t as difficult as I thought it would be so I felt confident enough to make a more interesting one. So, after browsing about 20 different patterns on Ravelry I finally came up with (what I think) was the best of all worlds. I ended up writing my first pattern, mostly so that I could remember when I make the second one.
I can’t wait to wear them, but I’ll have to buckle down and finish the second one by Monday if I want to wear them to class!
We’re Lauren and Michelle. We are from Milwaukee but we go to the University of Minnesota in the Twin Cities. We’ve long admired blogs like Susan B. Anderson and The Purl Bee so we decided to finally take the time to make our own! Ours won’t only be about crafting though. There will probably also be some food and most likely Lauren rambling on about vampires. Nothing will ever be as good as the Sookie Stackhouse novels though…
Tonight we made Eggplant Parmesan. So tasty! We’ll definitely have leftovers for a while…Especially since Michelle’s mom suggested we make noodles as a side.
We’re watching the opening ceremonies of the Vancouver Winter Olympics, they’re pretty amazing. During the Parade of Nations we were admiring all of the knitted items (hats, sweaters, mittens) and decided that Canada’s mittens with the maple leaf on the palm were the cutest. They also had really cute hats with poof balls on top! Also the mooses on the U.S. team’s hats were pretty nice.
